About Chief Jay Palepoi Mauga
Jay Mauga is a High Chief from Samoa. He is a descendent of King Malietoa’s royal family and Paramount Chief Palepoi Mauga who signed the deed that annexed American Samoa as a territory of the United States.
Chief Jay uses his chainsaw carving skills to treat his P.T.S.D. suffered from 21 years of military service, and two combat tours overseas.
This local artist and entreprenuer is a retired U.S. Army Officer with multiple combat tours during the Persian Gulf War and the Global War on Terrorism. He holds a Master’s degree in Human Resource Development, a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, and a K-12 teaching credential in Physical Education.
In addition to his arts, he lives for God and his family which includes his 23 year old twins, an 11 year old son, and wife of over 25 years.
